Meet Our Team
Karen LaMunyon, Principal
I started my educational career early in life, always cherishing the opportunities to work with kids. With over 30 years in public education, including teaching third through sixth grades, I have a deep commitment to our students’ success.
After earning my Master’s in Education, I spent ten years as a reading interventionist and later earned my Master’s in Building Leadership. I served as the assistant principal at Pray-Woodman Elementary School for six years. When the chance to open the intermediate schools presented itself, I eagerly embraced it, motivated by the vision of fostering an inclusive environment for our 5th and 6th graders.
I look forward to collaborating closely with you and our families to create a vibrant learning community.
Welcome to Maize South Intermediate School! We are excited to start our Maverick journey together and explore new opportunities for our fifth and sixth graders. We value the support of our families and are looking forward to connecting and growing together.

I truly love what I do and am passionate about making a difference in the lives of my students.
